The Village Academy Lower School Program (Kindergarten – Grade 5) establishes the strong foundation necessary for long-term academic success.
The School provides a supportive environment that combines academic rigor and an advanced curriculum with close attention to each student’s character and self-esteem, talents and interests. Specifically, the program educates students in core subjects (including reading, writing, mathematics, social studies, science, world languages, fine arts, performing arts, physical education, and technology) in a supportive and developmentally appropriate setting. Students are taught key skills such as critical thinking, analytical and perceptive capabilities, and self-directed learning. Classroom rotation begins in fourth grade, which assists in the preparation for Middle School.
Through interactive, hands-on experiences inside and outside the classroom, Lower School students are afforded extraordinary opportunities to grow academically, socially, and emotionally. An internationally diverse student body cultivates a global perspective with experiences that celebrate cultural and social differences. The academic program is enriched through field trips, cultural arts programs, fine and performing arts, guest speakers, day camps, and interactive presentations.
The Advancement through Mastery approach challenges each student individually based on his or her strengths, interests, and talents. To find out more about Advancement through Mastery, click here.
