The Village Academy Athletic Program enhances the academic experience by offering opportunities to develop important life skills such as leadership, dedication, integrity, and teamwork.
The physical education program, team practices, and organized competition provide opportunities for individual growth in an educational, supportive, and challenging environment. Physical education begins at the pre-kindergarten level and during Lower School, students are able to explore participation in team sports, workshops and specials which help them to choose their preferences in middle and upper school activities.
Through participation in the athletics program, student athletes learn about the importance of health and fitness, good sportsmanship, and proper conduct. Sports teams have opportunities to participate in regional, state, and national competitions starting in Middle School, which prepare students for Upper School and collegiate athletic competition.
The Village Academy Athletic Program provides a competitive, supportive environment, where each student athlete is treated as a valuable member of the team and is recognized for his or her athletic achievements. All Middle and Upper School students are offered a variety of opportunities to participate in athletics for the School.
Village Academy regularly competes with league teams from both public and private schools in the central Ohio area. The Upper School and Middle School Athletic Program includes the following team sports: Boys Basketball, Girls Basketball, Cheerleading, Cross Country, Golf, Soccer, Swimming, Boys Tennis, Girls Tennis, Track & Field, and Volleyball.
As a member of the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA), Village Academy sports teams participate in state, district, and divisional tournaments.
The Lower School Athletic Program provides opportunities for basic skill development in a variety of sports, and establishes a foundation for participation in team sports. After school and summer programs are available at the Lower School level, and include sports such as tennis, golf, soccer, and basketball.
During the fall, fourth, fifth, and sixth grade students are able to participate in soccer, while competing as a part of the Catholic Organization of Youth Soccer League (COYSL). Fourth and fifth grade students are eligible to participate in intramural basketball games during the winter quarter.
